Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU
The Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, running from 1 July to 31 December 2025, has released its programme outlining key priorities across various policy areas, including a strong focus on sport, education, and culture.
In the area of sport, the Presidency will prioritise democratic values by encouraging more transparent and inclusive decision-making processes in international sports governance. It will also initiate a political dialogue on how the EU can deepen its engagement with international sports federations to support fair governance and integrity in sport. Efforts to strengthen the European Sport Model will include promoting fairness in international competitions, particularly in how hosting rights are awarded.
Additionally, the Danish Presidency underscores the significance of early discussions on the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), with a focus on updating and enhancing the cohesion policy to better serve Europe’s evolving needs.
