CULT Committee Meeting Reviews Youth Strategy and EU Funding Instruments

On 24 February 2026, the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) held a meeting in Brussels focusing on youth policy implementation and upcoming EU budgetary priorities. A central item on the agenda was the presentation of a European Parliamentary Research Service study reviewing progress under the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027. Members exchanged views on how the strategy is delivering on participation, inclusion and engagement objectives, and discussed possible directions for its further development.

The committee also addressed financial matters linked to the future Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 and the guidelines for the 2027 EU budget. In this context, members examined funding instruments relevant to education, youth, culture and sport, including programmes such as Erasmus+. A structured dialogue with Commissioner Micallef provided an opportunity to clarify how EU funding tools will support policy areas under CULT’s remit in the coming years.

Overall, the meeting reflected the committee’s role in overseeing youth-related policy implementation and shaping budgetary priorities that affect education, participation initiatives and sport-related actions across the European Union.
