Safeguarding Approaches Focusing on grassroots sport Environment
About the project
The SAFE project aims to strengthen safeguarding practices where they are needed most: in the everyday sport environments where children, young people, and adult participants train, compete, and build communities. Rather than starting from scratch, SAFE builds on existing initiatives and previous work in safeguarding, with a strong focus on adaptability.
The project recognises that grassroots sport is not the same everywhere in Europe. Clubs vary in size, resources, culture, and structure, and safeguarding approaches must be flexible enough to work in different realities while remaining effective and consistent in their core principles.
The objectives
At its heart, SAFE seeks to widely disseminate the most suitable safeguarding tools for grassroots sport, supporting a broader cultural change across the sector.
On the basis of an in-depth analysis of current safeguarding frameworks, SAFE will develop awareness materials, educational resources, and micro-learning tools that can be used by sport organisations across Europe.
By empowering organisations at local level, SAFE aims to support leaders, coaches, managers, and volunteers in becoming active drivers of safer sport environments.
