Sports Without Borders Takes the Spotlight at the European Sport Platform in Split

From 15 to 17 October 2026, the Sports Without Borders project held its final conference and partners’ meeting within the European Sport Platform in Split, Croatia. The event was organised by ENGSO and hosted by the Croatian Olympic Committee, and provided an opportunity to share project results, exchange experiences and highlight the role of sport in promoting inclusion.

During the partners’ meeting, the consortium reviewed the project’s progress, key results and future tasks. Partners also delivered an interactive workshop introducing participants to the project’s tools and methodology. Through practical activities, participants explored how social circus and mental health support can complement traditional sports and contribute to more inclusive and supportive sporting environments.

On Saturday, a plenary session was dedicated to Sports Without Borders, featuring former professional cyclist Nahom Desale. He shared his inspiring personal story, highlighting the challenges faced by refugees and the opportunities sport can offer. His contribution emphasised how sport can foster social inclusion, strengthen a sense of belonging and open doors to new opportunities.

The event marked an important milestone for the project, bringing partners and sport stakeholders together to reflect on achievements and promote more accessible and inclusive sport for all.
