Giving youth a real say at the Council of Europe

ENGSO Youth Committee Member Siiri Turunen participated in the EPAS (Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport) event “Youth Perspective for Safe and Healthy Sport” in Strasbourg, representing ENGSO Youth alongside 50 young participants from across Europe. The event brought together young people, experts, and stakeholders to discuss how to create safer, healthier, and more inclusive sport environments for all. The meeting formed part of the preparations for the upcoming Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport in Monaco (3–4 November 2026), ensuring that youth perspectives are included in discussions and decision-making on the future of European sport policy.

As part of the programme, Siiri Turunen and EUSA representative Milia facilitated a workshop focused on the EUYOUSPORT project and mechanisms for youth participation in sport governance and decision-making. During the session, participants were introduced to findings from the EUYOUSPORT survey examining the current state of youth participation in sport structures across Europe. ENGSO Youth’s participation reinforced its commitment to safer, healthier, and more inclusive sport and to strengthening youth involvement in sport governance across Europe.
