CULT Committee views on MFF 2028-2034
Debates on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) are underway in both the European Parliament’s CULT and BUDG Committees. Within CULT, members reviewed interim reports on Erasmus+, Creative Europe, and CERV, noting overall positive progress but pointing to persistent funding gaps and the administrative burden smaller organisations face in accessing these programmes. These reflections fed into discussions on the upcoming MFF, where proposals include merging with the European Solidarity Corps and introducing two sport-specific elements: extending Key Action 1 mobility opportunities to athletes and sport staff, and establishing “Sport Collaborative Alliances.”
Committee members stressed that Erasmus+ should remain a budgetary priority, criticising the limited resources currently allocated. They underlined that a stronger financial commitment is needed to make the programme more accessible and impactful across education, culture, and sport.
