ENGSO Youth at the European Youth Week and Launch of the EU Youth Strategy Consultation

European Youth Week 2026 officially launched in Brussels on the 25th April, bringing together young people, policymakers, and youth organisations from across Europe to discuss solidarity, inclusion, and the future of youth participation in Europe. ENGSO Youth actively contributed to discussions on the role of sport in strengthening democratic engagement and active citizenship.

During the event, Policy and Projects Manager, Chloe Jordan took part in a roundtable discussion on meaningful youth participation with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Drawing on findings from the Eurobarometer Youth & Democracy 2024, she highlighted that sports clubs remain the leading space for youth participation, with 33% of respondents identifying them as their main avenue for engagement. Chloe connected these findings to the EUYOUSPORT project, emphasising how sport can serve as a powerful tool to involve more young people in democratic processes and civic life.

ENGSO Youth also participated in discussions on the future EU Youth Strategy beyond 2027, including the launch of the new public consultation process. We will contribute to the consultation to ensure the youth sport sector and grassroots sport continue to play a strong role in youth participation, as well as physical and mental well-being.
