ENGSO & ENGSO Youth submit joint position on the proposed Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034 and Erasmus+ Regulations

ENGSO and ENGSO Youth have formally submitted a joint position on the European Commission’s proposed MFF 2028–2034 and Erasmus+ regulation. In this position, we have expressed our concerns about the proposed allocations for youth and sport-oriented programmes. Highlighting the potential impact these allocations could have on both the youth and grassroot sport sectors.

Following these concerns, we called for:

  • Dedicated chapters and earmarking for youth and sport to ensure visibility, prioritisation, and equitable access.
  • Substantial real-term increases in Erasmus+ funding, going well beyond inflation, to ensure all young people across Europe can benefit from the most successful and well-known EU programme.
  • Restoration of the Key Action architecture, supporting democratic engagement, non-formal learning, and cross-border collaboration.
  • Maintenance of multi-dimensional objectives, resisting an overemphasis on labour market outcomes, and prioritising active citizenship and social inclusion.

ENGSO and ENGSO Youth remain committed to ensuring that the final MFF and Erasmus+ regulations reflect the needs of Europe’s grassroot sport and youth communities. The full position is available here.
